How freakin' hard is it to lower your interest rate these days? Well, if you're a slacker and behind on your mortgage payments, it's simple. But for someone like me? Hehehe....

I currently have a 30 year fixed VA loan at 6.5%. Had it for almost 3 years now. Before that, I had a 30 year fixed VA loan for 5 years. Both loans, I was never late on payments. That's almost 8 years of perfect home loan paying. My credit score is damned close to 800. My only black mark for this whole scenario is that due to the home market decreasing so much, I have no equity in the house. So I ask around to try and get my interest rate lowered. Guess what? No one wants my business.

I wonder why that is? Usually, a person with my qualifications has to beat loan officers off with a stick. Now, not so much.

I've had serious thoughts about missing a couple of payments so that I could qualify for our wonderful President's new plans that are in place to help "distressed" (read: people who bought more home than they can afford) people. Those people he can help.

I am guessing that it's probably since I didn't vote for him.

Now he is president, and his administration so far is acting like it wants the potentially budget-busting lawsuits to go away.
The change isn't sitting well with black farmers who thought they'd get a friendlier reception from Obama after years of resistance from President George W. Bush.
'You can't blame it on the Bush administration anymore,' said John Boyd, head of the National Black Farmers Association, which has organized the lawsuits. 'I can't figure out for the life of me why the president wouldn't want to implement a bill that he fought for as a U.S. senator.'"
